# Understanding Direct2Vet

A simple way to have your claim submitted for you, with less upfront costs.

## What is Direct2Vet?

Direct2Vet is RSPCA Pet Insurance’s online portal for vet clinics, designed to make submitting pet insurance claims easier.  
  
Instead of you completing paperwork or submitting claims yourself, your vet can take care of it for you after your pet’s treatment.  
  
And if your claim is approved, we’ll pay your vet directly for the covered portion, leaving you with less upfront costs.

## How it works

Step 1

Your pet receives treatment at a participating vet clinic.

Step 2

Your vet submits your claim through our Direct2Vet portal.

Step 3

We assess the claim based on your policy’s terms and conditions.

Step 4

If your claim is approved, we pay your clinic directly for the covered amount.

Step 5

You simply pay any remaining costs not covered by your policy.

### Does using Direct2Vet guarantee payment?

No, all claims are assessed in line with your policy’s terms and conditions, so when your vet submits a claim through Direct2Vet, it doesn’t mean it will automatically be approved or paid.

### Who pays if something isn’t covered?

As the policyholder, you’re responsible for any costs not covered by your policy. This includes any gaps, exclusions, or if a claim is rejected.

### Can I check if something is covered before my vet submits my claim?

To get a sense of what is and isn’t covered, you can take a look at our [Product Disclosure Statement (PDS)](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/product-disclosure-statement/)
. Keep in mind, though, that claims are only assessed once submitted and aren’t pre-approved. This means that cover isn’t guaranteed until we’ve completed our assessment.

### How long do claims take to assess?

If we have all the necessary information, most claims are assessed within 15 minutes. In some cases, we may need additional details, which can extend the assessment time.
