# Pet insurance claims made simple with Direct2Vet

Here at [RSPCA Pet Insurance](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/)
, we know that pet insurance claims can feel a bit overwhelming. There’s the vet visit itself, the concern for your pet, and then the practical side: invoices, claims, and wondering what happens next.

But we also know it doesn’t have to be that way.

With [Direct2Vet](https://direct2vet.com.au/)
(our online claims portal for vet clinics), your vet can submit your RSPCA Pet Insurance claim for you, right there at the clinic. That means less admin for you, and more time focusing on your pet’s care and recovery.

If your claim is approved, we pay your vet directly for the covered portion, and you simply take care of any remaining costs not covered by your policy.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through how RSPCA Pet Insurance claims work, how Direct2Vet can make things simpler, and what to expect along the way.

## How RSPCA Pet Insurance claims work

There are two simple ways to submit an RSPCA Pet Insurance claim, depending on what suits you best. You can either submit the claim yourself after your vet visit, or have your vet take care of it for you while you’re there.

- **Claim online:** Log into our [customer portal](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/log-in/) , upload your vet invoice and any required documents, and submit your claim. Once your claim is assessed and approved, you’ll usually be reimbursed within a few business days.
- **Let your vet claim for you:** If your clinic uses Direct2Vet, they can submit the claim on your behalf. We’ll assess it, and if it’s approved, we’ll pay your vet directly for the covered portion, leaving you to simply pay any remaining amount.

Both options are designed to be straightforward, whether you’d rather take care of your claim later, or have it handled on the spot.

## How Direct2Vet makes claiming simpler

Direct2Vet takes some of the admin off your plate when you’re at the vet. Instead of heading home, logging into our customer portal, and uploading documents, your vet can submit your claim during your visit.

Here’s what that means in practice:

- **Less paperwork for you:** Your vet submits the claim on your behalf
- **Faster processing:** Many claims are assessed within minutes if all required information is provided
- **No waiting for reimbursement:** We pay your vet directly for the covered portion

It’s a small shift in process, but it can make a big difference in the moment, especially when your pet needs you.

## Frequently asked questions

### What will I need to pay with a Direct2Vet claim?

If your vet submits a claim for you using our Direct2Vet portal, and your claim is approved, you’ll need to cover any costs not included in your policy. This may include:

- The gap between your vet’s invoice and what’s covered
- Any exclusions under your policy
- Costs that exceed your policy limits

Every policy is a little different, so it’s worth being familiar with your [level of cover](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/product-disclosure-statement/)
 ahead of time.

### How long do Direct2Vet claims take?

If all the necessary information is provided, claims submitted through Direct2Vet are often assessed within minutes. In some cases, we may need a little more information to complete the assessment. If that happens, we’ll contact you or your vet to explain what’s needed.

Claims are reviewed during business hours:

- Mondays to Fridays
- 08:00 to 20:00 (AEST)

If a claim is submitted outside of these hours, we’ll assess it as soon as possible once our team is back online.

### Does Direct2Vet guarantee my claim will be paid?

No, while Direct2Vet makes the process of claiming more convenient, it doesn’t change what’s covered. All claims are still assessed based on your policy’s terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions, which means approval and payment aren’t guaranteed.

### What if my vet doesn’t use Direct2Vet?

If your vet isn’t registered for Direct2Vet, you can still claim by:

- Paying for your pet’s treatment upfront
- Submitting your claim through [our customer portal](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/log-in/)

It’s a slightly different process, but still a straightforward one, and we’re here to help if you need anything along the way.

### Can I check if something is covered before my vet visit?

You can review your [Product Disclosure Statement](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/product-disclosure-statement/)
(PDS) to understand what’s generally covered and what isn’t. However, claims aren’t pre-approved. This means cover can only be confirmed once your claim has been assessed.

If you’re unsure, you’re welcome to [reach out to our team](https://rspcapetinsurance.org.au/contact-us/)
. They’re always happy to help you better understand your policy and what to expect.

## Support when you need it the most

When your pet isn’t feeling their best, everything else can wait. You’re focused on getting answers, getting treatment, and helping them get back on their paws again. And that’s exactly how it should be.

That’s why we’ve made pet insurance claims as simple as possible, whether you’re submitting it yourself or your vet is taking care of it through Direct2Vet. Because less time on admin means more time where it counts: with your pet.
